Preparing for Q School

In the past few weeks I have seen my game continue to improve.  I have been focusing on my swing fundamentals and hitting a more consistent draw with my driver and 3 wood.   Two weeks ago I shot 68 for a T8 finish in the Boston Open followed by a T40 finish in the Met Open.

Looking back on the summer, my results were much better than the year before.  The most improved aspect of my game is my attitude.  I have much more patience when it comes to overcoming a bad shot, hole, or even a missed cut.  Most golfers, including professionals, fall victim to doubt.  When faced with adversity I have learned to stick to my game plan and trust way I swing the golf club.

I begin PGA Tour Q School on September 11th at Black Horse Golf Club in Monterey, CA.  I am prepared to play my best golf and am confident it will go well.

Thank you again for your continued support!

Summer Update

The past few weeks have been going very well!  With scores of 72,69,68 I placed 24th at the Bangor Open in Bangor, ME.  The following week I made the cut at the New Hampshire Open and finished T31st, despite having food poisoning the night before the first round.

Last week I struggled with my tee shots at Wee Burn CC during the CT Open and ended up missing the cut.  Although it was frustrating, I made some minor adjustments to my swing that have been paying off.  This past Monday I shot a 69 at the Manchester Open leading to a T9th finish.  I had much better control over my driver and if a few more putts found the hole it would have been another win!

Next up: Boston Open this Saturday.

The summer is off to a great start and I am very happy to be back at Brooklawn CC!  I have been working hard on my game and have a very good feeling about my upcoming tournaments.  My scoring clubs (wedges and putter) have been particularly strong lately and I am focusing on getting more consistency off the tee.

FIRST WIN!

Yesterday I had my first professional win at Trinitas Golf Club in Stockton, California!

It's always a great feeling seeing hard work pay off!  I have been playing consistently well this year and had a feeling I was going to break through with a win very soon.  My past six events include yesterday's win, a second place (lost in playoff) and four other top 10 finishes.

I have been less concerned with my golf swing and putting mechanics this year and it has clearly helped my game.  I have committed to playing to my strengths: shaping the golf ball, hitting controlled half shots and maintaining a very smooth swing tempo.

I will play US Open qualifying next Monday at Pasatiempo Golf Club in Santa Cruz, CA.  Hopefully I can keep the good vibes going!

Hey guys.  Yesterday I ended up shooting a (-1) 71 in a Players Tour event placing me in 5th place.  I managed to hit 11/14 fairways and 15/18 greens.  Brad and I have been discussing the importance of good putting in professional golf.  The more I compete the more this becomes evident.  I hit tons of great putts yesterday but was only rewarded with 2 birdies.  If a few more putts had gone in I would have been a contender once again.

I plan on working twice as hard on my putting as I get ready for two Nationwide Tour Monday qualifiers in the upcoming weeks.  Thanks again to everyone for your support.

Tournament Update

My game has been getting progressively better as time goes by.  In the past six weeks I've had four top ten finishes in my four tournaments!

Yesterday I was in a playoff on the Players Golf Tour at The Bridges Country Club.  In windy and rainy conditions I made birdies on holes 14, 17 and 18 to shoot a one under 71.  Unfortunately, I lost on the second playoff hole.  Losing the playoff was disappointing but now I feel even more motivated to work hard and get my first win.

I'll be sure to keep everyone updated!

I have made changes to my upcoming schedule...
